Juliana Vallejo is a process-focused artist. The interaction between her, the medium and the surface plays an essential role in her art making. She expresses herself on large surfaces, with many works being life-size or larger. Her approach is highly physical, regularly moving the works from the floor to the wall and back and using her hands to apply different thicknesses of paint. As part of her practice she has done artist residencies in Italy, Mexico and the United States, and currently she has studio space at Red Dirt Studio in Mt. Rainier, MD.  Juliana has been living in the Washington metropolitan area for the past eleven years, after leaving her natal country, Colombia.
